Overview

Clintelligence is a business intelligence portal for pharmaceutical clinical development. It combines real-time status and information tracking with performance monitoring tools to give your organization a holistic view of operations.

Using the full breadth of Cognos features, Clintelligence delivers rich and dynamic clinical performance content using over 40 different reports and graphs, analysis cubes, and on-screen graphics. They are filtered and personalized based on a user’s role in the organization. Executives stay informed about submission-level timeline events and clinical development plan KPIs, while clinical teams can focus on trial and site progress. Project planners apply historical performance data to future planning, and data management keys-in on barriers to database lock. The entire clinical organization shares tightly choreographed operational and performance objectives, enabled by Clintelligence.

While each clinical area focuses on activities relevant to them, a common element ties all these activities together—the data. Clintelligence requires no data entry because it leverages existing data in systems such as EDC and EPS. Status is real-time and decisions are made based on complete information. Teams become aware of their performance weaknesses and strive to improve. Development goals are met, and performance is spotlighted for continual process improvement.

Architecture

Clintelligence provides an extensible BI architecture for clinical, implemented in the Cognos and Oracle industry-standard toolsets. These tools ensure compliance and scalability for virtually any enterprise platform, allowing corporate IT to support and enhance the product as needed. Clintelligence consists of the following components:

Operational data store (ODS)
This normalized schema of over 200 tables is the staging repository for data coming from clinical source systems such as CTMS, CDM or EDC, and IVRS randomization.

Clintelligence ETL
ETL from source systems into the ODS is typically custom, although some adapters are available for the most common clinical source systems. Over 75 Oracle procedures perform the complex transformations from the normalized ODS into the star schemas.

Clintelligence schema
The BI schema consists of the Milestones & Metrics Data Mart for clinical performance, and consists of almost 50 dimension and fact tables in a star schema.

Presentation layer
Clintelligence uses IBM Cognos ReportNet portals, customized with the SDK, to deploy business role-specific dashboards for status and performance measures. These are delivered via drillable, inter-laced IBM Cognos ReportNet reports and graphs, IBM Cognos PowerPlay cubes, and Visualizer graphics built on a robust framework.
