Cognos Names Don Campbell Chief Technology Officer


OTTAWA, ON and BURLINGTON, MA, Oct. 18, 2007 – Cognos (NASDAQ: COGN; TSX: CSN), the world leader in business intelligence and performance management solutions, today announced that Don Campbell has been appointed to the position of chief technology officer.

Mr. Campbell is charged with overseeing the company's technology strategy to ensure Cognos technology assets are maximized and applied in sound and innovative ways to help drive greater business value for customers. Mr. Campbell will also continue to support Cognos' research and innovation process across all areas of the business.

Mr. Campbell has 25 years of high tech experience, 20 of which have been with Cognos. As CTO, he will oversee the company's technology adoption strategy and its application within the Cognos platform. Mr. Campbell is responsible for analysis of leading-edge technology trends such as grid computing, mash-ups, search, and wireless information delivery in a performance management context.

Within Cognos, Mr. Campbell has held various roles ranging from research to software development to management. He has also contributed to the creation of several award-winning products. He sits on various industry technology boards and advisory committees and is the author of several published articles.
